Baby Quilts
Minimum size of 40" x 45"
Think of wrapping a quilt around a new baby, or a toddler. Approximately 40 quilts are needed. Team up with someone who likes to piece and/or someone who likes to quilt. These quilts should be "serviceable" as baby quilts need frequent washings. Also, bindings should be put on by machine for maximum wear. No sleeve is necessary.

Fire Destroys Non-Profit's Supplies
An early morning fire Monday left a local non-profit in desperate need of supplies and donations. The Cartersville Fire Department received a call Monday at 8 a.m. The home was being used as storage for the Bartow County Women's Resource Center. "It was donations," said Cindy Smith, Director of the center. "We had our diapers, our baby clothes, our car seats." The Resource Center works with women in crisis, mainly finanacially impaired new and expectant mothers. In addition to providing the moms with supplies, the organization also offers parenting classes and counseling services. "We helped close to 600 families in 2006, Smith said. "We're there to help with the things they can't pay for." The fire destroyed all of the center's supplies in the building, including baby equipment, maternity clothes and bottles. The center keeps formula at a different location, and a baby bed they are giving away this week also was not in the home. "We just put our stuff here," Smith said. "We were just coming today to organize it." "The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental," Assistant Fire Chief Scott Carter said. The CFD determined the fire started due to combustibles being left too close to a heater. The heater in the house was set to about 45 degrees, but with temperatures dropping into the teens on Sunday night, the heater ran for most of the night. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 9:04 a.m. A total of 18 DFC personnel and four units responded to the fire. Taffic on Tennessee Street was hampered briefly, "The fire was quickly under control," Carter said. Smith said she had already contacted several churches that helped the organization and wanted to get the word out that the organization is in need of supplies. "Our desire is for the community to rally," she said. The organization is a 501(c)3 non-profit and donations are tax deductible. Smith said the organization needs "anything baby or mommy," including cribs, crib mattresses, clothes up to size 24 months, maternity clothes, diapers and car seats. Donations can be brought to the Resource Center at 20 Douglas St. in Cartersville
